On the 7th July 2011 GDDKiA has signed agreement on cooperation with Polish Electro-energetic Network Operator S.A. The subject matter of the agreement is stipulation of the scope and principles of cooperation with regards to:
The viaTOLL electronic toll collection system has been launched. The system operates at the selected sections of highways, expressways and national roads. The electronic fee replaces the current system using tall stickers.
At midnight on 1st July 2011 the electronic toll charge collection system for using some of the national roads did not start. The contractor – Austrian company Kapsch – assures nevertheless that it will have several hour delay and the system will work during the say. None the less, pursuant to the contract, for the delay it will pay the State Treasury 1 mln PLN penalty and will cover any damage. If once again it will not keep their promise – for each subsequent day it will pay another million and will make up for further damages.
General Directorate for the National Roads and Motorways announced a tender for the lease of properties situated along the motorway A1 on the section Toruń – Tuszyn as well as Pyrzowice – Gorzyczki (border with Czech Republic) in order to build and make use of Rest and Service Areas (RSA).
The contractor assures: there will be no delay.
The last activities regarding the construction and installation of electronic toll collection system devices on the state roads - ViaToll. Pursuant to the provisions of the contract and the reassurance of the contractor– Consortium Kapsch – the system is to be activated 30th June this year at midnight.
The drivers of motor vehicles and combinations of vehicles of total permissible weight below 3.5 tones for the transit on the section A2 from Konin to Stryków will pay on the so called toll-gates. On the 103rd km of the section, drivers of other vehicles will make an automatic, electronic payment by means of viaTOLL system.
The decision made by GDDKiA on terminating contracts with Chinese companies which built sections A and C on the A2 motorway between Lodz and Warsaw, has become valid. The previous contractors failed to offer proposals of improving the situation on contract sites, apart from presenting on 9th June a position on increasing construction costs, which was not consistent with the law and provisions of the agreement.
Since the end of May The The General Directorate of National Roads and Motorways has educated Poles in road safety. Among others it was possible to learn how to defeat tiredness during long trips, which medicines negatively influence driving ability, or how to deal with children who disturb the driver. Several dozens of happenings throughout the country offered the possibility of learning how to apply the first aid, checking the driving ability in computer tests, going through a car crash or overturning on special simulators. The final educational picnic took place on Saturday and Sunday in the Szczęśliwicki Park in Warsaw.
Weekend without victims
The intension of the National Safety Experiment is to create a national coalition of all participants of the road traffic: drivers, passengers, cyclists, and pedestrians around the idea of the road safety.
The article in the daily Gazeta Prawna concerns the A-4 Radymno-Korczowa section of the road which is built by Avax in the Design – Build system (22 km).
The charges against GDDKiA on delays in transferring documentation are not true. The only reason of delays is the investor’s care of road works quality.
