On 28th December 2011 in Opole Branch of the General Directorate of National Roads and Motorways the contracts have been signed for the construction of three sections of the expressway S-8 from Syców (Lower Silesia), through the Wielkopolska Region to the town Walichnowy in the Łódzkie Region.

The Christmas is coming. For many Polish drivers it is a time of increased travelling. The General Directorate of National Roads and Motorways appeals to drivers for a careful driving. Before the pre-Christmas trip we advise to plan the route and prepare for the prevailing weather conditions.

From today you can use the newly built ring road of Łęknica within the national road No. 12. It is less than 3.5 kilometers and cost 70 million PLN.

The second carriageway of the ring road of Nowogard of a length of 9.41 km opened to traffic. The target organization of traffic will be introduced on the route, all the junctions of the ring road will be fully put into operation. Since the end of October this year on the basis of the temporary traffic organisation one carriageway of the ring road was in operation, the main entrance and exit of Nowogard was a junction Nowogard North. After opening the second carriageway the elements of the temporary traffic organisation will be being disassembled, thus we appeal to drivers for caution.

A-1 motorway junction "Zabrze North" (Wieszowa) - "Gliwice Maciejów" of a length of 8 km has been put into use.

Since Wednesday 21st December, drivers can use the ring road of Kock and Wola Skromowska constituting a part of the expressway S19. Nearly 8 kilometres long route will be the first marked section of the expressway in the Lubelskie Region.

Today in the afternoon hours drivers will drive the new carriageway of the bypass road of Miękowo. For a half of a year before the contractual completion date it is already possible to use both carriageways of the bypass road. The ultimate traffic organisation will be introduced on the route. Since July of this year one carriageway of the bypass has been operating on principles of the temporary traffic organisation with speed limits of 50 and 70 kilometres per hour and with an overtaking ban. Within next few days after making the second carriageway available for traffic, the elements of the temporary traffic organisation will gradually be abolished. Therefore, because there might occur some traffic congestions, we appeal to drivers for special care.

The new outlet of the expressway S74 from Kielce to Cedzyna towards Lublin and Rzeszów will be opened on Saturday. The seven-kilometre long road is partially placed in the city centre (within the city limits – 2.7 km, outside limits of Kielce – 4.1 km) for that reason, in order not to increase pre-Christmas traffic jams, the traffic on that road will be released in hours of the minimal traffic volume.

The General Directorate of National Roads and Motorways beats records – during one year it spent more money on investments than ever before. In the current year, expenditures of the General Directorate of National Roads and Motorways will be realised at the level of PLN 26.4 billion. What is also impressive is the usage of the EU funds – by December PLN 10 billion have been reimbursed.

Applications may be submitted till 9th January 2012. The date of project accomplishment is 27 months from the date of concluding the agreement.
